Danny The Wildchild (Chicago - The DNB Guild)

Danny the Wildchild aka Daniel Garcia was born on the South side of Chicago in 1977. The brother of a once aspiring DJ, he keenly watched and quickly learned the tricks of the trade. Danny began djing at age nine soon surpassing his brother's abilities and eventually inherited his equipment and records. At twelve, Danny entered a Chicago area contest for young DJ's and won. He took home that fifty-dollar prize and was called "The Wildchild" from that day forward. Although Danny's roots were as a Hip-Hop DJ, he was eventually introduced into the Chicago Rave scene and to the world of drum-n-bass. He enjoyed this new form of music, but also loved hip-hop and began to creatively blend the two genres creating a unique sound of his own. As Danny's turntable talents grew, he began to incorporate scratching and DMC style battle tricks into his Drum-n-Bass sets. His precise mixing skills and unique style and sound gave him the opportunity to bring Drum-n-Bass into the DMC and Hip-Hop scenes. Danny's recognition has earned him a collection of praises from domestic and international magazines such as Mixer, Thousand Words, Faqt, and Lotus to name just a few. Danny was also featured as one of the people making waves in the scene in Urb's Next 100 Artists to Watch Issue. Today Danny has become one of the most valued U.S. Drum-n-Bass DJ's. His unique blends of jungle and Hip-Hop beats and amazing scratching and beat juggling have proved to be show stopping. His talents have brought him to perform in venues worldwide and opening up for such acts as Eminem, Method Man, The Jungle Brothers, De La Soul, Moby, Goldie, MixMaster Mike and The Pharcyde. Danny also toured extensively throughout Europe with DJ Q-bert in 2002 (see djqbert.com). Although most weekends he is on the road, he still has time to host the 12midnight slot on Chicago's Alternative Radio station Q101FM and is gotten back in the studio. In March, the Wildchild released a follow-up to his 1999 12" release on Bad Boy Bill's Canvas label. His first effort at mix CD culminated in the release of "Danny The Wildchild: Booked" (March 2001). The Wildchild's was the first in a series of "Booked" CD's from Chicago's Strictly Hype Recordings.

DJ Hyperactive (Chicago - 4 Track Records)

I have a very similar story as many other dj/producers from Chicago have. I was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago like a lot of the other creators and pioneers of Chicago House Music, but over time I'd become more fascinated with the techier side of our music their at the time including acid house. The house parties we went to back in the day had a different meaning than anywhere else in the world. I think you can figure it out. Just ask anyone back in Chicago back int he early 80's and they'll break it down for you. The radio programming (yes folks, commercial radio, but anything but commercial), the music production, the record stores, and the parties at that time were unparalleled. I started buying records back in the day right at the beginning when Chicago House Music was born at Imports, Loop Records, and Gramaphone hopping from store to store trying to score some white labels, and sometimes buying them straight out of people's trunks.

From Jr.High straight into College I was consumed with all facets of house music at that time. Jack, acid, etc. I was completely consumed and pre-occupied which following my third year in college I returned back to Chicago and the rest is history. I borrowed a friend's EPS sampler and 606 and started making music. More and more gear followed and the production increased. As records dropped gigs were plentiful. From corner to corner in the states my popularity and identity as an American DJ/Producer solidified. Having made it through 20+ releases on my first imprint Contact Records the coinciding releases on labels like Missile and Hybrid my demand in Europe soon followed.

In the late 90's I headed out west to California, opened Higher Source Records and Gear, started 4 Track Records, changed booking agencies and then decided to take a break. So after a long overdue break I've stepped back into rhythm and 4 Track Records is now in full motion.

The American Jungle (Exclusive Minneapolis Screening Party)

This music documentary studies the roots of Drum & Bass and Jungle, as well as their influences on Electronic Music in North America. The film is directed by Joshua “Phenetic” Freeman and Jeremy “Onket” Ballard, both of whom are well-respected DJ’s. “The American Jungle” will explore the past 20 years of Drum & Bass music, its present and future, featuring artists such as DJ Hype, Dieselboy, Aphrodite, DB & Dara, Andy C, AK1200, and many more. Keyframe-Entertainment is supporting the film as Associate Producer. In early 2017, the film screened in Chicago, New York, and LA. The San Francisco screening is set for 1/18/18!

The Drum and Bass /Jungle genre is vast and has a diverse array of musical sounds from jazzy, melodic tones to heavy, dark beats. The music takes most of its roots and culture from the Electronic, Reggae, Dancehall, Hip-Hop, and Punk Rock scenes. This is a culture that still thrives in North America. You will see firsthand what it is like to be at some of the massive events featuring the top talents of Drum & Bass to the smaller, more intimate local scenes in the U.S.
