Come join the Minneapolis-based Sweet Colleens as they celebrate release of their 5th full-length CD, “10 Mona Lisas,” with a special concert at the Parkway. The Colleens are 5 accomplished multi–instrumentalists—with nary a “colleen” among them—who together fuse their diverse musical backgrounds into a high energy, infectious, and crowd–pleasing mix of “Celtic folk–rock and alt. country/Americana, with Cajun and Caribbean seasonings.” With infectious original songs, warm vocal harmonies, and fiery fiddle and accordion instrumentals, the Sweet Colleens have won a loyal local following and fans across the Midwest and beyond.

The band was founded by ex–pat Canadian songwriter and fiddler Jeremy Greenhouse and Minneapolis keyboardist/accordionist Pete Sandvik for a Y2K New Year’s show at Kieran’s Pub in Minneapolis. From there, the Colleens soon established themselves as mainstays in the Twin Cities’ Celtic and original music scenes. They have played at Celtic, folk and rock festivals from St. Paul to Texas to France, and have recorded with an array of notable musicians including Grammy award–winning Cajun fiddler Michael Doucet and the Minneapolis Youth Chorus. The concert will feature the band performing songs off “10 Mona Lisas” with a special appearance by Katie MacMahon, former lead soprano for “River Dance,” who sings on the new CD. Up-and-coming Twin Cities–based Gambler’s Daughter (Jessa Roquet) will perform an opening set.

"These guys take you on a wild, high-energy trip from Belfast, to Kentucky, to Louisiana, to Nova Scotia, to Kingston and back home again all in one set. My legs are tired just thinking about it." Mike Pengra, Producer, 89.3 FM The Current

"...a smart, crowd-pleasing mix of Celtic folk-rock and alt. county/Americana, with Cajun and Caribbean seasonings." Minneapolis Star Tribune
